Welcome to the homepage of the Network-Centric
Information Systems (NetCINS) Lab. at the University
of Patras, Rio, Greece.
The mission of
the NetCINS Lab. is to support education, research,
and development efforts in the field of software systems,
with emphasis on (in random order):
- Anthropocentric Data Systems: This pertains to my vision for Information Systems whose behaviour and fundamentals depend on specifications defined by human users (please see my VLDB 2011 vision paper), using crowdsourcing techniques, where principles of psychology, economics, social science, computer science, and control systems come together.
- large scale distributed information systems, such as those build on top of cloud infrastructures, including Hadoop FS and key-value stores, including HBase and Cassandra,
- social networking / web2.0 infrastructures and
applications
- event-based, publish-subscribe middleware,
- next-generation file systems inspired by IR techniques
